Körtvélyessy Magda was born in Barand, Hungary in 1919. She began her career as a watercolor artist but soon settled on bold and vivid abstractions in oil and acrylic. Her unforgettable paintings are well recognized in Hungary today.

Memories from frequent travels have inspired many of her paintings, of which many have found their way to local and Canadian collectors and museums.
