Works by Kortvelyessy Magda, Hajnal's Aunt
Magda Kortvelessy, 1919-2007.
It with great sadness that we announce the passing away of Magda Kortvelessy on Jan 28, 2007. A gentle soul with boundless talent, she found beauty and harmony in the simple things in life. Much like Barand, the small yet quaint town where she was born, her work reflects the way she lived. Deep with the richness of a culture blessed with vibrant history. A descendant of the Baroness of Kortvelessy, she carried herself like a true lady of the old order, gracious and noble. A fountain has been erected in her home town honoring the contribution she made to the cultural richness of Hungary by showcasing her works of art and publishing two books of her own poetry. She became a bit of a celebrity, humble as she remained. The beauty of her art reflects the vibrant colour she found in life and the people around her, Magda will be deeply missed. May her body be young again and her soul be free as the wind…

H. Veronika Csorba (Magda's Neice) - Biography

H. Veronika Csorba is a Canadian Fine Artist. She had just turned ten when in the fall of 1956 she escaped Hungary (during the Hungarian Revolution) with her parents and took the difficult trip to Canada over mountains and ocean.

In Canada, her high school teachers recognized her drawing ability. She was encouraged to study art and prepared to do so but she married early and was soon blessed with five children. Pursuing an art career became a difficult and lonely path. Canadian Native art and the ocean’s beautiful underwater colour-scape, birds, shells and fish influenced her work. Besides painting, she likes to work with pencils, oil pastels, charcoal, textiles and glass paints.

Later in life she studied architectural drawing and has created many model sites. She also enjoyed working at the annual Toronto Santa Claus Parade creating exciting Christmas floats.

In Canada, H. Veronika Csorba exhibited her work in Toronto in 1995. She returned to visit Hungary for the first time in 1977 and had an exhibition in Budapest in February 2003. Her drawings are in fine Hungarian art magazines and poetry books such as “Klaris” and “Antologia”. She continues to pursue her artistic interests today in any medium that will lend itself.

Presently, she is employed in Real Estate at "Right at Home Realty" in Toronto, Canada and enjoys helping people find the right home. You many contact her by visiting her website HouseHuntingToronto.com. See page two--->
